For four decades, Kontrapunkt has crafted custom typefaces. Each one designed for a specific voice, a specific need. We’ve built type systems that work across cultures and industries. Type that stands out. Type that steps back. Always with purpose. Now we’re doing something we’ve wanted to do for a long time: launching Kontrapunkt Type, our retail foundry.
Think of it like a workshop that’s always built custom pieces crafting a core collection. For years, we’ve been designing fonts for individual clients. Now we’re refining letterforms, balancing proportions, and creating typefaces we think should exist beyond a single project. Baseline typefaces for everyone.

Duo Sans and Duo Serif are designed to work seamlessly together—same proportions, same metrics, different genres. Duo Sans is our take on the contemporary grotesque, with a subtle warmth of familiar “placeholder” classics. But with a sharper, digital clarity. Duo Serif is a transitional serif born for screens, not inkbleed. Crisp, high-contrast, made for how we communicate today.
Spatial is our love letter to Futura. All that geometric beauty, but actually readable at any size. Circular warmth meets triangular sharpness — Bauhaus principles rebuilt for modern use.
This is just the beginning.
Forty years of refining letterforms across cultures and systems taught us what we’d want in our own toolkit. What we’d reach for first. So we’re making them. Foundational typefaces built with contemporary clarity and Scandinavian warmth.
